Limited Edition Ocean Art – Midgard Serpent
This fine art ocean photograph was captured on the south coast of New South Wales. A violent storm had been raging for days, driving towering waves over a submerged reef and against the coastline, defying the strong offshore wind.
The storm still lingered in the distance when the rising sun pierced through the heavy clouds. In that instant, light ignited the face of a massive wave – revealing its glowing, emerald core. As it reared and curled, it took the shape of a serpent’s head, its fangs flaring forward in motion, charging with unstoppable force.
The image takes its name from the Midgard Serpent – the legendary sea serpent of Norse mythology, so large it is said to encircle the entire world. According to myth, it will rise from the ocean depths during Ragnarök, the final battle, as a symbol of chaos and unimaginable strength.
Midgard Serpent captures one of those rare, fleeting moments when the raw power of nature takes on mythic form – when the boundary between reality and legend briefly disappears.
Edition: #4/10
Printed on: Museum-Grade Fine Art Paper – Fibre Gloss, Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta
Image Size: 105 × 70 cm (42” × 28”)
