Homo Delphinus – This fine art sea life photograph was captured at Lady Elliot Island, Queensland, Australia.
A family of bottlenose dolphins swam past us, and I started making a few gentle noises. Moments later, a mother dolphin emerged from the deep and began swimming straight toward me. She came so close I could’ve reached out and touched her.
Just behind her, nestled close to her body, was her newborn calf – following her every move as she gracefully circled around me. It felt as if she was introducing her baby.
The encounter was deeply personal – an intimate moment shared between me, a mother dolphin, and her calf. I still get goosebumps when I think about it.
